Frequently Asked Questions
Sibee provides businesses with a licence to play carefully curated background music licensed directly from independent artists.
Because the music is not registered with PRS or PPL, you can legally play it in your business without needing those additional licences.
Our model is simple: one fixed-price licence that covers you for 12 months.
You purchase your licence through our website, and we send you:
· A licence certificate for your premises
· A template email you can use to notify PRS/PPL that you are playing music from the Sibee catalogue
· A link to access the music playlists
Your licence automatically renews each year, but you are free to cancel at any time.
Sibee is suitable for a wide range of businesses where music creates atmosphere rather than being the main focus.
Our customers include cafés, restaurants, waiting rooms, pubs, shops, hotels, offices, leisure centres, and other hospitality or customer-facing spaces.
Our catalogue focuses on high-quality background music designed to enhance the atmosphere without distracting customers.
This includes easy-listening playlists, authentic cultural and global sounds, and genre-based collections suited to different business environments.

No- as long as you only play music from the Sibee catalogue.
Because Sibee licenses music directly from the artists, and those tracks are not registered with PRS or PPL, no additional PRS or PPL licence is required for that music.
If you play any other music (such as radio, TV, personal playlists, Spotify, or live broadcasts), separate licences may still apply.
Yes. Your Sibee licence covers your day-to-day background music from our catalogue.
For occasional live music performances, you will need a separate PRS/PPL licence, usually charged as a fixed daily fee. This means you can use Sibee for your regular music and still host one-off live events, as long as you are properly licensed for those performances.
You will have a Sibee licence certificate showing that your business is licensed to play music from our catalogue.
This confirms that the music you are using is legally licensed for public performance through SIBEE. Having operated for over 18 years, PRS and PPL are aware of SIBEE as an established alternative provider.
The artists retain full ownership of their music.
Sibee acts as a licensing agent, authorised by the artists to license their tracks to businesses for background music use.
The cost is £140 per year or £12 per month
